Make a real difference in the lives of young learners as a full-time Special Education Teacher working with K-1 students in an autism-focused classroom. This contract opportunity is nearby and provides the chance to support students in reaching their fullest potential. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, offering a consistent and structured environment ideal for both educators and students.

In this role, you'll guide and nurture children in a specialized classroom setting, working either in an Autism (AU) or Multiple Disabilities (MD) classroom. Collaborate closely with other dedicated educators and support staff as you adapt lessons and instruction to meet the unique needs of each student in your care.

Qualifications and Experience Sought:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification (as required by state guidelines)
  • Experience teaching or student-teaching in a special education classroom, preferably with K-1 students or children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or multiple disabilities
  • Strong understanding of IEP development and execution
  • Patience, creativity, and strong classroom management skills
  • Excellent communication abilities for working with families, staff, and administrators
  • Ability to adapt instruction to suit individual learning styles and needs

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to K-1 students in an autism or multiple disabilities classroom
  • Develop, implement, and track progress on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Foster a supportive, engaging, and safe learning environment
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and related service staff
  • Communicate student progress and strategies with families and the wider school team
  • Maintain documentation and adhere to all district and state education regulations
