Shape young minds and make a lasting difference as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students during the 2026-2027 school year. Located near Lakewood, WA, this engaging, onsite, full-time contract role offers you the chance to work collaboratively within a dedicated Learning Resource Center (LRC) team. You’ll join a supportive environment, engaging with students in grades 6, 7, and 8, and share responsibilities with two fellow LRC teachers.

This position spans from September 9, 2026 through June 16, 2027, with a consistent, Monday through Friday schedule of 7.5 hours per day (including a .5-hour unpaid lunch), giving you meaningful structure while providing work-life balance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Current Washington State Special Education License/Certification, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Ability to be fingerprinted through OSPI (or willingness to complete the process).
  • Prior experience with middle school special education caseloads preferred.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work closely with other LRC teachers.
  • Dedication to fostering a supportive learning environment for diverse learners.
  • Flexibility, strong communication skills, and passion for helping students progress academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct special education instruction and support for approximately 40 students in a middle school LRC.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to create holistic plans for student growth.
  • Maintain an inclusive, encouraging classroom atmosphere.
  • Track progress, adjust interventions, and ensure compliance with all relevant educational standards.
