Step into a vital role guiding and inspiring students with significant support needs in a welcoming K-8 school setting. As the Intensive Learning Community Lead Teacher, you'll work in a self-contained classroom designed for up to 10 children who require substantial, individualized support. You'll partner with and oversee a dedicated team of 2-3 aides, fostering an environment centered on structure, consistency, and compassion.
Your classroom will be a place where students with autism and diverse abilities thrive, using a variety of supports to communicate, socialize, develop adaptive skills, learn academics, and grow their motor skills. You’ll play a key part in shaping the learning experience, integrating routines and predictability while remaining flexible and understanding to adapt to each child’s unique needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Experience working with K-8 students with significant disabilities is highly preferred
- Strong background supporting students with autism and knowledge of evidence-based interventions
- Familiarity with communication supports, including AAC devices and visual supports
- Experience supervising aides or classroom staff is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to create and maintain highly structured, nurturing environments
