Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting middle school students with mild to severe needs. This full-time role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM, beginning August 10, 2026. Situated near the scenic Lamy, NM area, you’ll play a pivotal part in fostering academic and social growth for students in grades 6-8.
Your role will focus on individualized instruction and creating inclusive classroom experiences, collaborating closely with colleagues and families. As a valued educator, you’ll ensure each student’s unique abilities and learning styles are recognized and nurtured.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid credentials as a Special Education Teacher
- Experience with middle school (grades 6-8) populations, across mild to severe caseloads
- Medicaid NCI # required
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Collaborative mindset for working with a multidisciplinary team
- Successful completion of a background check
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement IEPs tailored to student needs
- Modify curriculum and classroom strategies to foster optimal learning
- Employ evidence-based interventions and assessment tools
- Maintain detailed records in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Engage with families, school staff, and related service providers
- Promote self-advocacy and independence among students
