Job Type Contract

Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by providing specialized instruction and support in a secondary or elementary setting. This contract position focuses on serving learners with diverse needs—including life skills and autism support—within a collaborative environment aided by paraprofessional and one-on-one staff.

There are three distinct classroom opportunities across secondary (grades 9-11, including a life skills focus), secondary autism support (middle and high school), and elementary autism support (projected for grades 2-3). Classroom sizes are small, ranging from approximately 6-12 students, ensuring individualized attention. Schedules run either 7:25 AM–2:45 PM or 8:15 AM–3:45 PM depending on placement. Each day is structured around five periods—four dedicated to academics and holistic instruction, with one period reserved for your preparation and optional intervention or club activity engagement. Lunch is allotted concurrently with learners, but instructional staff do not attend lunch with students.

What you’ll bring:

  • Valid Special Education Teacher certification (current and applicable)
  • Experience or training working with students with cognitive needs or autism spectrum disorders, ideally in a school environment
  • Strong collaborative skills to partner with paraprofessionals, 1:1 support staff, and related services
  • Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learner needs, including verbal, non-verbal (AAC), and various academic levels
  • Commitment to promoting positive, inclusive classroom culture
  • Organizational skills to manage IEP goals, progress monitoring, and documentation

Daily responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging instruction, collaborating with support staff, managing IEPs, and fostering a safe, structured environment. With projected enrollments ranging from 5-12 students per classroom, you’ll have the opportunity to make a tailored impact on each learner’s academic and social growth.

If you have a passion for supporting students with special needs and thrive in a team-oriented, student-centered setting, submit your application today to take the next step in your special education career!
