Key Qualifications:

  • Active Special Education Teaching certification required
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred, but not mandatory
  • Experience supporting medically fragile or bed-bound students strongly valued
  • Ability to develop and follow individualized lesson plans
  • Commitment to consistent, ongoing engagement over multiple years
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to cultural and family needs

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, in-person special education services for 2.5 hours per week, year-round
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including SLP, OT, and PT, each providing specialized services
  • Adapt instruction and materials to fit a medically fragile, bed-bound setting
  • Foster open communication with the student’s caregivers, respecting linguistic and cultural backgrounds
  • Document progress and work closely with district coordinators to adjust schedules and interventions as needed
  • Remain flexible, as the role may evolve with increased weekly hours over time
