Key Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teaching certification required
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred, but not mandatory
- Experience supporting medically fragile or bed-bound students strongly valued
- Ability to develop and follow individualized lesson plans
- Commitment to consistent, ongoing engagement over multiple years
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to cultural and family needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, in-person special education services for 2.5 hours per week, year-round
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including SLP, OT, and PT, each providing specialized services
- Adapt instruction and materials to fit a medically fragile, bed-bound setting
- Foster open communication with the student’s caregivers, respecting linguistic and cultural backgrounds
- Document progress and work closely with district coordinators to adjust schedules and interventions as needed
- Remain flexible, as the role may evolve with increased weekly hours over time
