An onsite resource room / special education teaching opportunity is available for the 2025-2026 school year in Flint, MI, with openings also in Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit areas. This full-time contract role focuses primarily on self-contained classrooms with caseloads of up to 22 students, spanning Early Learning (pre-K) through K-12.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering specialized instruction in resource room and self-contained settings tailored for students with learning disabilities and other special education needs.
  • Developing and implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations.
  • Collaborating with families and school staff to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
  • Addressing the unique challenges faced by urban learners by utilizing appropriate resources and strategies.
  • Maintaining comprehensive records and ensuring compliance with state and federal special education requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Michigan Teacher Certificate with an endorsement in Learning Disabilities (LD) is required.
  • Preferred endorsements include Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood), plus at least one other special education area.
  • Experience working in urban school districts is highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of MARSE and IDEA regulations.
  • Ability to manage caseloads consisting mainly of self-contained classrooms.
  • Full-time availability for approximately 35 hours per week.
  • Submission must include university transcripts and a copy of Michigan teacher certificate for verification.

This position requires candidates who are comfortable working onsite in an urban educational environment and who can thoughtfully address the specific needs of students and families in this setting. Remote interviews are currently conducted.
