VocoVision partners with schools nationwide to provide exceptional virtual special education services. We're currently building our talent network of qualified special education teachers ready for remote placement opportunities throughout Nevada.
This position offers the flexibility of working from home while making a meaningful difference in students' educational journeys. You'll provide specialized instruction to students with individualized learning needs through secure, interactive online platforms designed for special education delivery.
What This Role Involves
Virtual special education teachers in this capacity typically work 35-40 hours weekly, supporting a caseload of 40-50 students across various grade levels, primarily focusing on middle and high school populations. The remote structure allows you to design your workspace while maintaining consistent availability for live instruction sessions, student check-ins, and collaborative meetings.
Students in your caseload will represent diverse disability categories including learning disabilities, developmental delays, speech/language impairments, and intellectual disabilities. You'll differentiate instruction to meet wide-ranging needs while ensuring each student makes measurable progress toward their individualized goals.
Core Teaching Duties
Your primary focus will be implementing standards-based instruction modified to align with IEP goals and accommodations. This includes planning engaging lessons that translate effectively to the virtual environment, utilizing multimedia resources, interactive activities, and breakout sessions for small group instruction.
Data collection drives instructional decision-making in this role. You'll regularly assess student performance, document progress, and adjust teaching strategies based on evidence of student learning. Detailed progress reports and IEP documentation must be maintained consistently throughout the school year.
Virtual collaboration with multidisciplinary teams is central to student success. You'll participate in remote IEP meetings, coordinate with speech therapists and occupational therapists providing related services, and maintain regular communication with families regarding student progress and concerns. Building strong relationships despite the distance requires proactive communication and responsiveness.
Minimum Requirements
Nevada special education teacher licensure must be active and in good standing. A Master's degree is required, along with a minimum of two years' experience teaching in school environments. Prior virtual teaching experience strengthens your candidacy, though comprehensive training and support are provided.
Technical requirements include proficiency with educational technology platforms, reliable high-speed internet, and appropriate equipment for video-based instruction. Your home workspace should support confidential student discussions and professional virtual meetings.
