This opportunity focuses on guiding 6th to 8th graders in a specialized Stride program designed to serve students with both low and high functioning autism, as well as possible learning disabilities. The position involves working within a self-contained classroom, managing a small caseload that does not exceed eight students, providing the support and individualized attention each learner deserves.

This is a long-term substitute role expected to run from late August through October, with the possibility of extension depending on leave coverage needs. The schedule offers full-time hours, Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week—perfect for educators seeking a steady, engaging assignment at the start of the academic year.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Maryland Special Education Certification for grades 6-12 is required; conditional certificates are welcomed.
  • At least 2 years of prior Special Education teaching experience, especially with autism spectrum and learning disabilities.
  • Experience with self-contained or structured classroom environments.
  • Compassionate, flexible approach to supporting diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with staff and families.
