This opportunity seeks a Special Education Teacher to lead a self-contained autism support classroom for 1st and 2nd grade students within an elementary school setting. The position is based in Lawrenceville, GA, and operates on a contract basis for the current school year. The role focuses on delivering a general curriculum tailored to meet the behavioral and academic needs of students with autism.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Georgia certification in Adaptive Special Education or General Special Education
  • Certification covering all subject areas for grades P-5, including reading, writing, science, social science, and math
  • Experience working with students with autism and behavior challenges preferred
  • Ability to deliver differentiated instruction and maintain a supportive classroom environment
  • References required from three professionals, with at least one being a current or recent principal or assistant principal

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with autism
  • Adapt curriculum to support academic growth and behavioral needs for students in a self-contained classroom
  • Collaborate with school staff, therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive support
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular reports to stakeholders
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
