Make a real impact in students’ lives as a Special Education Teacher at a North Austin upper school campus. This contract role provides the opportunity to support and guide learners in grades 6–12, focusing on integrated Humanities/English Language Arts and Social/Life Skills within a welcoming resource inclusion setting.
You’ll collaborate with paraprofessionals and fellow educators in a spacious classroom, benefiting from weekly planning sessions and a comprehensive curriculum supplied by the school. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30–7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, and you’ll manage a caseload of 25–30 students. Smaller group support is a key element, with only a handful of students requiring Life Skills intervention across multiple periods. There are also opportunities to collaborate in mathematics, thanks to the classroom’s unique setup.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Department of Education License—Special Education and Generalist/Core for Grades 6–12 required
- Demonstrated Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) experience and confidence in contributing to ARD meetings
- Strong communication skills and professional disposition
- Ability to work within dress code standards (professional attire, limited piercings, reserved hair color)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in Humanities/English and Social/Life Skills in a resource inclusion model
- Work closely with paraprofessionals to support a diverse group of students
- Participate in regular planning and collaboration sessions with other teachers
- Contribute to the ARD process and maintain compliance with state requirements
- Provide guidance and differentiated instruction to effectively engage and support each learner
Compensation and Benefits: This position offers an hourly pay range of $38–$43, along with comprehensive health benefits (medical, dental, and vision), and a 401(k) option through Principal Financial.
