Special Ed Teacher | Ledyard, Connecticut

A full-time Special Education Teacher is sought for a Middle School Life Skills classroom serving students in grades 6-8. This contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the current school year and focuses on providing specialized instruction within a self-contained Life Skills classroom environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Developing, writing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students
• Delivering differentiated instruction tailored to meet the needs of students with various disabilities
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive educational support
• Implementing behavior management techniques and fostering social development
• Maintaining accurate records and progress reports to communicate student growth

Desired qualifications:

• Experience teaching Special Education students, particularly in Life Skills or related self-contained settings
• Ability to write and monitor IEPs effectively
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and best practices
