Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Previous experience working with middle school students, specifically in a self-contained or Life Skills classroom
- Strong knowledge of individualized education programs (IEPs), including writing and progress monitoring
- Ability to develop and implement differentiated instructional strategies tailored to various learning profiles and abilities
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, families, and related service providers
- Commitment to maintaining a supportive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, functional life skills instruction to students in grades 6-8 within a self-contained classroom
- Develop, write, and monitor individualized education plans, ensuring compliance with all legal guidelines
- Track and report on student progress, making data-driven adjustments to instructional plans as needed
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, related service staff, and paraprofessionals
- Foster a positive, respectful atmosphere where students feel valued and supported
- Communicate regularly with families to address student progress and offer resources as appropriate
