A full-time Special Education Teacher is sought for a Middle School Life Skills classroom serving students in grades 6-8. This contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the current school year and focuses on providing specialized instruction within a self-contained Life Skills classroom environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing, writing, and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students
- Delivering differentiated instruction tailored to meet the needs of students with various disabilities
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive educational support
- Implementing behavior management techniques and fostering social development
- Maintaining accurate records and progress reports to communicate student growth
Desired qualifications:
- Experience teaching Special Education students, particularly in Life Skills or related self-contained settings
- Ability to write and monitor IEPs effectively
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and best practices
