This in-person position runs from August 4, 2026, through May 27, 2027, with a schedule of 37.5 hours per week.

Qualified travelers from other states should take note: Alabama’s reciprocity process for special education certification takes approximately six weeks—timing is essential to ensure you’re set for the school year! Qualifications:

  • Current AL Special Education Teacher Certification (or eligible for reciprocity; must initiate promptly)
  • Experience in self-contained special education settings preferred
  • Comfortable working with elementary-age students (grades 3–6)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills to partner with classroom aides and support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Lead instructional delivery for a small group of students in a supportive, self-contained setting
  • Adapt curricula, assessments, and IEPs to student needs, tracking progress and meeting district/state requirements
  • Foster a safe, encouraging classroom atmosphere
  • Collaborate with aides, therapists, and support staff to implement individualized programs
