Embark on a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time contract position is located in a dynamic school environment near Lewiston, ME and welcomes applications from both local professionals and travelers.

You’ll collaborate with supportive educational teams to provide specialized instruction and case management for students with diverse learning needs. Caseloads are thoughtfully tailored: educators with a resource classroom background will have no more than 15-20 students, while those managing 1:1 settings will oversee a group of 8-10 students. The weekly commitment ranges from 35 to 40 hours.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Valid Special Education (282) Teaching License required
  • Experience as a Special Education Teacher in either resource or 1:1 settings
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration abilities
  • Ability to individualize instruction and case management for a variety of learning needs
  • Commitment to promoting student growth and an inclusive environment

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff
  • Adapt lessons, materials, and assessments for varying abilities
  • Monitor progress and maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Foster a positive, supportive classroom environment
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development activities
