Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certified Special Education Teacher, with valid credentials for high school level
  • Experience working in a Life Skills or Essential Skills setting preferred
  • Strong understanding of IEPs and individualized learning plans
  • Patient, creative, and skilled in fostering positive relationships with students
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to an onsite role and hands-on teaching approach

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction to a caseload of 7–9 high school students in the Essential Life Skills program
  • Develop, implement, and adapt individualized lesson plans and curriculum based on student needs
  • Track progress and document student growth using data-driven practices
  • Facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring compliance and family engagement
  • Collaborate with other educators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
  • Address behavioral and social-emotional needs with compassion and professionalism
