Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified Special Education Teacher, with valid credentials for high school level
- Experience working in a Life Skills or Essential Skills setting preferred
- Strong understanding of IEPs and individualized learning plans
- Patient, creative, and skilled in fostering positive relationships with students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to an onsite role and hands-on teaching approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction to a caseload of 7–9 high school students in the Essential Life Skills program
- Develop, implement, and adapt individualized lesson plans and curriculum based on student needs
- Track progress and document student growth using data-driven practices
- Facilitate IEP meetings, ensuring compliance and family engagement
- Collaborate with other educators, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
- Address behavioral and social-emotional needs with compassion and professionalism
