As a Special Education Teacher for early grades (K-2), you’ll collaborate in a resource setting within general education classrooms and work closely with an EC Teacher’s Assistant. You’ll play a vital part in nurturing the development and academic growth of a caseload of approximately 16-20 students, helping to build positive educational foundations for children at a crucial stage.
Qualifications:
- Current certification or licensure in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Experience developing and implementing IEPs for elementary school students
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions for K-2 learners
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team within general education settings
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Dedication to supporting diverse student needs and fostering an inclusive classroom environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction for students with varying learning needs in general education classrooms
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to facilitate best practices
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Collect and maintain data on student progress, regularly communicating achievements and areas for growth with staff and families
- Model effective strategies for your EC Teacher’s Assistant and support their professional growth
