Step into a meaningful role as an Elementary Adaptive Special Education Teacher, serving a small, dedicated group of 7-8 students in a supportive, collaborative school setting. As part of this contract opportunity, you’ll play a pivotal role in adapting curriculum and classroom activities, working closely with a team of two paraprofessionals to create an engaging learning environment tailored to your students’ unique needs.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of May.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid North Carolina Adaptive Exceptional Children (EC) teaching license is required
  • Experience working with elementary students in special education, preferably in an adaptive or resource classroom
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and support staff
  • Ability to foster a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver adaptive lessons that align with IEP goals and provide individualized instruction to each student
  • Collaborate with a team of two paraprofessionals, leveraging their support for classroom management, academic tasks, and assistance with daily routines
  • Maintain accurate and detailed student records, including ongoing documentation of progress and communication with families
  • Liaise with related service providers and participate in IEP meetings as needed
  • Create a nurturing and structured environment that prioritizes both academic progress and social-emotional growth
