Special Education Teacher | Littleton, Colorado

Two full-time roles are available supporting Structured Learning Services classrooms at the elementary level. Each assignment is based at a single site, either in Thornton or Northglenn, providing a small classroom environment where your expertise will have a direct, meaningful impact.

As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll work closely with a team of dedicated professionals, including speech, occupational, physical therapy, and psychological service providers, who support your classroom through “push-in” models. The district values collaborative individuals who are committed to evidence-based practices for students with autism, many of whom are non-verbal and require alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) methods.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Colorado DOE Teacher license with Special Education Generalist (5-21) endorsement
• Proven experience in autism-specific education, non-verbal communication strategies, and structured classroom settings
• Familiarity with Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
• Hands-on knowledge of AAC, and proficiency in managing or guiding paraprofessional staff
• Experience supporting students exhibiting challenging behaviors (elopement, biting, hitting, aggression)
• Understanding of research-based approaches and station-based teaching for autism

Your Responsibilities:

• Provide full-time instruction and support for a small elementary caseload (7–15 students)
• Implement evidence-based strategies and integrated behavioral supports
• Collaborate with related service professionals for individualized student interventions
• Oversee and mentor paraprofessional support staff
• Collect data and participate in the assessment and planning process for student growth
