Job Type Contract

Bring your expertise in special education to make a difference in Aurora classrooms! Two dynamic opportunities await experienced educators ready to provide consistency, leadership, and compassion to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This contract role places you on-site at one school, with assignments available at the elementary or P-8 level.

At Jewell Elementary, you’d serve as the lead in one of two ASD classrooms, working primarily with 10 older students (grades 1–5). This class thrives with structure but has recently faced frequent substitute transitions—your stability and skill will be vital. A talented team of paraprofessionals supports the classroom, and you’ll also have the opportunity to mentor a paraprofessional pursuing alternative licensure. This position involves behavioral supports, co-regulation activities, physical support, and diapering care.

At Vista Peak Exploratory P-8, take on the role of Primary Autism Teacher, inspiring and engaging students in a supportive, innovative environment.

Qualifications:

  • Current Colorado Department of Education Teaching License with Special Education Generalist endorsement (Ages 5–21 required)
  • Experience with autism support and behavior management in a classroom setting strongly preferred
  • BCBA welcome and encouraged to apply (mentorship needs present)
  • Able to complete district background check and fingerprinting promptly

Responsibilities:

  • Provide engaging instruction and individualized behavioral support to students with ASD
  • Establish rapport, foster consistency, and promote skill acquisition
  • Mentor and guide paraprofessional(s), offering hands-on training toward licensure
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to create a safe, supportive learning environment
  • Track progress and contribute to educational planning

These full-time assignments (37.5 hours/week) run through 5/27/2027. If you are a dedicated special education professional passionate about mentorship, consistency, and student growth, this is your chance to shape a positive classroom experience. Submit your application now and help create transformative change for Aurora’s students!

Compensation for this position ranges from $30.82 to $50.82. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
