Special Education Teacher - Littleton, Colorado

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher serving students with diverse learning needs within engaging elementary environments. This on-site, contract-based opportunity is located near Littleton, CO, and covers assignments in both a Structured Learning Services (SLS) classroom and an Affective Needs (AN) classroom. Each assignment is dedicated to a single school, providing continuity and the ability to develop strong relationships with your students. The contract runs ASAP through May 21, 2027, with a steady schedule of 37.5 hours per week.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid Colorado Department of Education (CO DOE) Teacher License with Special Education Generalist (Ages 5–21) Endorsement
• Experience as a Special Education Teacher in school settings
• Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs for diverse learners
• Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills
• For Independence Academy AN classroom: Science background preferred; experience supporting students with social/emotional/behavioral disorders beneficial
• Behavioral intervention planning (BIP) or functional behavior assessment (FBA) experience is a plus

What You'll Do:

• Provide specialized instruction to students in either the SLS classroom (elementary, high-needs students) or Affective Needs classroom (small group, social/emotional/behavioral supports)
• Deliver lessons and interventions tailored to each student’s unique learning plan
• Collaborate with fellow educators, school staff, and families
• Maintain accurate records and contribute actively to IEP meetings and compliance
• Support safe, respectful learning environments and positive student outcomes
