Special Education Teacher - Livonia, MI

Embark on a rewarding journey supporting students as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming school year. This full-time contract opportunity begins August 24, 2026, and runs through June 4, 2027. Passionate educators are needed to serve in elementary Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Cognitive Impairment (CI) classrooms, as well as a resource room setting. Qualifications:

• Current, active Michigan Special Education license in CI or ASD required
• Experience working in elementary special education preferred
• Ability to effectively modify curriculum and adapt instructional strategies
• Commitment to fostering a supportive and engaging classroom culture
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• Willingness to collaborate with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction to students in ASD and CI classrooms and one resource room
• Develop and implement IEPs, track progress, and monitor goals in accordance with state and federal guidelines
• Foster positive relationships with students to encourage participation, confidence, and independence
• Collaborate with general education staff, therapists, and school-based teams
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians on student progress and classroom activities
• Participate in professional development and training to stay current with best practices in special education
