Make a lasting impact in the lives of elementary students with autism by leading a supportive, self-contained adapted curriculum classroom. As a Special Education Teacher in an elementary autism program, you’ll deliver meaningful instruction tailored to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive disabilities. Bring your expertise—and heart—to a welcoming and collaborative educational environment where student progress and independence are core goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver differentiated instruction based on adapted curriculum standards to meet diverse learning needs
  • Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student
  • Establish and manage classroom routines and effective behavioral support strategies
  • Foster skill development in communication, social, behavioral, and adaptive functioning areas
  • Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service staff, and families
  • Collect and analyze student performance data to monitor and report progress
  • Integrate ABA techniques, functional communication strategies, and visual supports as appropriate
  • Supervise and guide paraprofessionals working within the classroom

Qualifications:

  • Possess a valid Georgia Special Education Certification
  • Demonstrated experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Skilled in writing and implementing IEPs
  • Proven ability to manage classroom behaviors and interventions

Preferred Experience:

  • Adapted Curriculum certification or background in self-contained settings
  • Experience with students facing significant cognitive challenges
  • Familiarity with ABA, visual schedules, structured teaching, and functional communication modalities
  • Previous supervisory experience with classroom paraprofessionals
