As a Special Education Teacher in an elementary autism program, you’ll deliver meaningful instruction tailored to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and significant cognitive disabilities. Responsibilities:
- Deliver differentiated instruction based on adapted curriculum standards to meet diverse learning needs
- Design and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student
- Establish and manage classroom routines and effective behavioral support strategies
- Foster skill development in communication, social, behavioral, and adaptive functioning areas
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service staff, and families
- Collect and analyze student performance data to monitor and report progress
- Integrate ABA techniques, functional communication strategies, and visual supports as appropriate
- Supervise and guide paraprofessionals working within the classroom
Qualifications:
- Possess a valid Georgia Special Education Certification
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Skilled in writing and implementing IEPs
- Proven ability to manage classroom behaviors and interventions
Preferred Experience:
- Adapted Curriculum certification or background in self-contained settings
- Experience with students facing significant cognitive challenges
- Familiarity with ABA, visual schedules, structured teaching, and functional communication modalities
- Previous supervisory experience with classroom paraprofessionals
