A full-time opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education professional for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract-based position aligns with the traditional school calendar, extending from August through June, and offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, from early morning to mid-afternoon.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching certification (appropriate for grades 9-12)
- Experience providing specially designed instruction to high school students
- Strong understanding of IEP development, management, and implementation
- Proficient in academic evaluations, data collection, and ongoing progress monitoring
- Effective communicator with families and multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable collaborating with general education teachers and related service providers
- Preferred: Experience with behavior management strategies and transition planning for post-secondary readiness
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee general special education caseload for grades 9-12, managing and implementing IEPs
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction according to students’ unique learning profiles
- Conduct academic assessments and maintain accurate records of student progress
- Communicate proactively with families to foster partnership and transparency
- Utilize an "A/B Day" block schedule, balancing four 90-minute instructional blocks and daily prep time
- Partner with fellow educators and school staff to provide comprehensive student support
- Develop and implement positive behavior management plans and transition strategies (as applicable)
