This contract position is perfect for a dedicated Special Education Teacher experienced in creating inclusive, effective strategies for students diagnosed with autism and intellectual delays. Based near Lynn, MA, you will work full-time in a sub-separate program tailored to the unique needs of 7th and 8th graders for the entire school year. The schedule runs from 7:15 AM to 2:15 PM, offering a consistent work routine.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (state-appropriate licensure)
- Prior experience with middle school students, especially those with autism and/or intellectual delays
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs
- Strong classroom management and behavior intervention skills
- Ability to collaborate with other educators, related service providers, and families
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver customized instruction for students within a sub-separate program
- Modify curriculum and adapt materials to meet students’ individualized education plans
- Foster a nurturing, structured classroom atmosphere that encourages growth and independence
- Work closely with paraprofessionals and support staff to implement behavioral and academic interventions
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and parent conferences
- Maintain thorough documentation, progress reports, and communication with stakeholders
