Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Tennessee 461 Certification is required
  • Previous experience working with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
  • Strong understanding of comprehensive development classroom environments
  • Ability to develop, implement, and adapt Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborative approach, open to partnering with general education staff, specialists, and families
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to students in a moderate to severe special education setting
  • Assess student needs and track progress through data-driven methods
  • Adapt curriculum and teaching techniques based on each student’s IEP
  • Provide behavioral and academic support, fostering a safe and encouraging classroom environment
  • Collaborate with other teachers, aides, therapists, and support staff to maximize student success
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians on student progress and strategies
