This full-time special education teaching role is based near Manchester, NH, and involves supporting Life Skills classrooms at either the middle school (6th–8th grades) or high school (9th–12th grades) levels. You'll play a pivotal role in empowering students to build essential academic and daily living skills, all within a collaborative and welcoming educational environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility) for New Hampshire
  • Prior experience working with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, ideally in a Life Skills or self-contained classroom
  • Strong classroom management and individualized instruction abilities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom community

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction tailored to each student’s IEP goals in academic, social, and functional skill areas
  • Develop and modify lesson plans and materials according to student strengths and needs
  • Support student independence in self-care, communication, and daily living activities
  • Maintain accurate records of progress, adaptations, and interventions
  • Collaborate closely with related service providers and general education staff
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and wellbeing
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to the team approach
