Special Education Teacher - Marion, North Carolina

Step into a role making a difference in the lives of young learners as a contract special education teacher within a supportive school environment near Marion, NC. This full-time position offers you the opportunity to teach and nurture students with diverse needs from now through May 28, 2027.

You’ll work Monday through Friday for 40 hours per week in two welcoming settings—an elementary structured support classroom and a middle school co-teaching environment. The elementary classroom serves a close-knit group of six students, each requiring toileting assistance, but without feeding or significant behavioral needs. You'll have the support of a teaching assistant and a behavior technician by your side.

The middle school classroom provides a co-teaching model with 11 students. While one student requires a feeding tube and toileting assistance, the remainder do not present behavioral challenges. The classroom is well-supported with a team including another teacher, three full-time teaching assistants, and dedicated 1:1 support for the student with specialized needs.

Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
• Experience in both elementary and middle school settings is preferred
• Familiarity with toileting assistance protocols
• Comfort and experience assisting students with medical needs (e.g., feeding tubes) is a plus
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Foster a structured and supportive classroom environment
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, behavior technicians, and co-teachers
• Provide toileting assistance as needed, and support the medical needs of students
• Communicate progress and collaborate with families and other professionals
