Special Education Teacher - Matthews, North Carolina

Make a difference in young lives as a Special Education teacher working with K-2 students in a supportive, resource-based setting. In this contract role, you’ll collaborate with a dedicated EC Teacher’s Assistant, guiding children in their educational journey within a general education classroom. With a focus on individualized learning and inclusive practices, you’ll help shape a nurturing environment for a diverse class of 16-20 students.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid licensure or eligibility for Special Education in the state
• Experience working with students in early elementary (K-2) preferred
• Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
• Proven ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs
• Skilled in working collaboratively with assistants, fellow teachers, and families
• Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide specialized instruction and support to K-2 students in a general education classroom
• Work collaboratively with the EC Teacher’s Assistant to address diverse student needs
• Modify and implement IEPs, monitoring goals and progress
• Develop and adapt resource materials to support individual learning styles
• Maintain compliance with documentation and state/federal guidelines
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom climate
• Engage in ongoing communication with families, staff, and related service providers
