Special Education Teacher | Mchenry, Illinois

Make a meaningful impact working with young learners as a Special Education professional in a dynamic Pre-K blended classroom for children aged 3-5. This contract position involves collaborating closely with a general education teacher and supporting paraprofessionals to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. You’ll guide a class of no more than 18 students, each day running from 7:45am to 2:30pm, making a difference in the lives of children during their crucial early years.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certified Special Education Teacher (current credential required)
• Familiarity and experience with PreK or early childhood special education preferred
• Strong ability to collaborate with general education staff and paraprofessionals
• Skilled in adapting curriculum and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Effective communication skills with students, families, and team members
• Organized, flexible, and passionate about fostering growth in young children

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction in a blended PreK setting alongside a lead general education teacher
• Adapt and modify classroom activities to accommodate individual learning needs
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to offer additional student support as needed
• Monitor student progress and document milestones in accordance with IEP goals
• Communicate regularly with families and school team to ensure student success and well-being
• Maintain a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
