The class comprises seven students and is intensely supported by a team of teacher assistants, ensuring a collaborative and well-resourced environment.
Working hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm and Fridays until 2:00 pm, offering a consistent and balanced schedule to help you maintain your work-life harmony. For travel professionals, comfortable on-site housing is provided in a school-owned house/apartment to ease your transition and help you settle in quickly.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (state licensure requirements must be met)
- Experience working with elementary-aged students with autism and/or non-verbal learners
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies for diverse needs
- Collaborative mindset for working closely with support staff and related service providers
- Patient, innovative, and focused on fostering student progress and independence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead academic and social instruction for a multi-mixed, self-contained classroom
- Collaborate with a high staff-to-student ratio to create a structured, nurturing environment
- Write and manage IEPs in accordance with student needs and educational best practices
- Communicate consistently with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Monitor and document student progress, implementing evidence-based interventions
