Special Education Teacher - Melrose, Massachusetts

Preferred Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education teaching certification (or eligibility for certification)
• Experience or strong interest in a developmental learning classroom
• Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
• Resourceful, creative, and committed to student-centered instruction
• Ability to foster a supportive, structured, and engaging classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and adapt instruction to meet the individual goals of students in the developmental learning classroom
• Implement IEPs and provide differentiated instruction using evidence-based strategies
• Assess student progress and communicate results with families and team members
• Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to support students’ needs
• Create a safe, nurturing, and encouraging classroom culture
• Engage in ongoing professional development and stay current with best practices in special education
