Special Ed Teacher | Metairie, Louisiana

A K-12 special education teaching opportunity is available in the New Orleans, LA area, serving students within Jefferson Parish. This contract role begins ASAP and continues through May 22, 2026.

This position requires an active Louisiana Department of Education certification in Special Education. Candidates must be fully certified and ready to begin immediately, as the district prefers professionals who do not require licensing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver specialized instruction tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of students across K-12 grade levels
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies to promote achievement and engagement
• Maintain accurate records and documentation aligned with state and district regulations
• Participate in ongoing professional development and team meetings

Qualifications:

• Active Louisiana DOE Special Education certification
• Experience working with K-12 students in a special education setting preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment

Work Schedule:

• 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
• Caseload and specific school assignments will be determined based on district needs
