Elementary Special Education Teacher (2 Openings)

A supportive school district in the Middletown, CT area is now looking to hire two Special Education Teachers for current, full-time openings. These elementary-level positions offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with diverse learning needs in inclusive and specialized classroom settings. Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students.
• Provide direct instruction and specialized educational services to support academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.
• Serve as a case manager and ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, service providers, administrators, and families.
• Collect and analyze student data to monitor progress toward IEP goals.
• Participate in IEP meetings, team meetings, and parent conferences.
• Implement accommodations, modifications, and evidence-based instructional strategies.
• Support students in either an Intensive Self-Contained K–5 classroom or a Resource (Push-In/Pull-Out) K–5 setting.

Experience:

• Previous experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting preferred.
• Experience with IEP development, case management, and differentiated instruction is a plus.
• Strong collaboration and classroom management skills preferred.
• Education:
• Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or a related field required.
• Valid Connecticut Special Education Certification (165 or 265) required.
• DSAP-certified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Contract

Work Hours: 35–40 hours per week

End Date: June 10, 2027

Compensation: $37-$50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
