You'll be closely collaborating with classroom paras and a dedicated team to address academic, behavioral, and developmental needs for students with mild to moderate as well as moderate to severe behavioral challenges.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid state Special Education Teaching Certification
- Prior experience teaching elementary-aged students strongly preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for behavior management
- Ability to collaborate effectively with paras and other classroom staff
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique strengths and needs
- Design and deliver engaging, differentiated instruction that aligns with students’ goals
- Manage and support a structured classroom environment with the help of paras
- Use proactive behavioral strategies to support student growth and positive outcomes
- Regularly assess student progress and share insights with families and support staff
- Participate in IEP meetings, team collaboration, and ongoing professional development
- Foster social-emotional learning and encourage independence among students
