A Special Education Teacher position is available for an onsite, contract role supporting an elementary behavior-focused, cross-categorical program in Burnsville, MN. This role centers on working with students primarily receiving specialized support for behavioral needs, including those with Emotional Behavioral Disorders, within a site-based elementary setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted instruction to a caseload of approximately 8-10 elementary students with diverse special education needs, particularly focusing on behavioral challenges.
- Implement and monitor behavior plans, utilizing evidence-based behavior strategies to support student growth and classroom management.
- Collaborate effectively with special education and general education colleagues, as well as paraprofessionals, to design and execute instructional schedules and interventions.
- Establish structured classroom routines that promote a positive and conducive learning environment.
- Maintain consistent and excellent attendance to ensure continuity of student support.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Minnesota Teaching Credential in Special Education, with endorsements in one or more of the following areas: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Disabilities, Early Childhood, Emotional Behavioral Disorders, Learning Disabilities, or holding an Academic & Behavioral Strategist License.
- Demonstrated strong instructional skills and problem-solving abilities specifically related to behavior management.
- Experience working in a cross-categorical special education setting preferred.
- Ability to collaborate seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams to meet student needs.
Location: Burnsville, Minnesota
Contract Length: January 5, 2026 – June 4, 2026
Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
