Make a difference as a Special Education professional working with a small, engaged classroom in a supportive school setting near Minneapolis. This contract opportunity runs ASAP through June 11th, with potential for an Extended School Year (ESY) extension. You'll provide specialized instruction and important social-emotional support for five students in grades 1–3, primarily in an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Emotional/Behavioral Disorder (EBD) classroom. Four students have dedicated 1:1 para support, creating a positive environment for individualized learning and growth.

Key qualifications and preferred experience:

  • Valid Tier 2 or Tier 3 teaching license in Special Education (required)
  • Endorsement or prior experience with ASD or EBD preferred
  • Previous work with elementary school-aged children highly desired
  • Ability to deliver both academic interventions (especially in reading) and support social-emotional learning
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with paras, staff, and families

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborating with classroom paras and support staff
  • Developing and leading academic activities for students performing mostly at grade-level in math, while providing targeted reading support
  • Leading social-emotional skill-building activities and strategies
  • Creating a safe and nurturing environment tailored to students’ diverse needs
  • Maintaining open communication with families regarding student progress

Typical school hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm, supporting a consistent routine for both educators and students. This role offers the unique chance to use your skills to empower young learners, while broadening your practice in a collaborative and rewarding setting.
