Special Education Teacher - Minneapolis, MN

A rewarding contract opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in Developmental Cognitive Disabilities. This full-time position is set in a supportive elementary environment, focusing on students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The assignment begins at the end of February and continues through June 4, 2027, with work hours from 8am to 4pm each weekday.

In this role, you will work with a manageable caseload of approximately 10 students, providing instruction and support in a collaborative school community. Your expertise and passion for special education will make a significant impact on young learners’ development and educational journeys.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education teaching license, or eligibility for licensure
• Prior experience working with students who have developmental cognitive disabilities highly preferred
• Ability to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with students, families, and a multidisciplinary staff
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, positive, and supportive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate instruction to a small group of K-2 students
• Adapt lessons to meet a diverse range of learning needs
• Monitor and document student progress, making data-driven adjustments to instruction
• Collaborate closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
• Communicate regularly with families to support each student’s growth and success
