The role is full time, offering 35 hours a week, in a vibrant educational environment near Monroe, NY.
You will guide students ranging from early childhood through high school, customizing your teaching approach for different abilities—some students are verbal, others non-verbal, and a number present behavioral challenges. Robust on-site support ensures you’ll collaborate closely with trained staff prepared to address each child’s individual needs.
Qualifications:
- NY State Special Education Teacher Certification for relevant grade levels.
- Master’s degree in Education.
- Experience or interest in early childhood, elementary, middle, or high school special education settings.
- Comfortable and confident working with classes of different sizes and support ratios.
- Skilled in creating inclusive classrooms, utilizing differentiated instruction.
- Strong communication skills for engaging both verbal and non-verbal students.
- Ability to effectively address challenging behaviors with patience and professionalism.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver individualized lesson plans for special education students.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and specialists to support each child’s unique development.
- Monitor academic, social, and emotional progress; adjust strategies as needed.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.
- Communicate with families and team members regarding student progress.
