Starting after background checks are completed, the contract begins June 26, 2026, with an optional six-week summer program also available. The position requires a commitment of 35 hours per week.
Key responsibilities include managing varied caseloads with a maximum classroom size of 12 students per teacher. Typical class groupings include ratios of 8 students to 1 teacher plus 3 staff members, or 6 students to 1 teacher plus 3 staff members. Students range in abilities and communication styles, including verbal and non-verbal, and may exhibit behaviors that staff are trained to support professionally. Creating individualized education plans, collaborating with support staff, and fostering inclusive learning environments are essential duties.
Qualifications for this role include holding a New York State Special Education teaching certification appropriate for the grade levels served, along with a Master’s degree in education. Experience working with varied learner needs and behavior management is highly valued.
