Make a difference for students with exceptional needs in a rewarding onsite contract opportunity for Special Education teachers supporting several elementary schools near Montgomery, AL. This assignment runs from August 2026 to May 2027, with full-time hours (37.5 per week) and focuses on Language/Autism self-contained units. Work closely with a collaborative team of paraprofessionals in inclusive, supportive environments dedicated to providing individualized care.

You will be matched to one of several welcoming K-5 campuses, each serving approximately 10–20 students in a dedicated Language/Autism classroom setting. Strong teaching teams of three to five paraprofessionals support these units, ensuring that each student receives personalized attention and opportunities to flourish.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education teaching license (SPED) in Alabama (license can be verified through the state website)
  • Experience working with K–5 students in self-contained or autism support settings preferred
  • Deep understanding of IEP processes and ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills for working with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, positive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized instructional strategies to students in Language/Autism units
  • Develop, implement, and monitor student IEP goals
  • Supervise and lead a team of paraprofessionals within the classroom
  • Utilize data to drive instruction and report on student progress
  • Create a structured, nurturing classroom routine to facilitate student success
