Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Special Education (SPED) licensure for Alabama (verify at: https://tcert.alsde.edu/Portal/Public/Pages/SearchCerts.aspx)
  • Experience teaching students in self-contained special education or Autism units preferred
  • Flexibility and strong communication skills
  • Dedication to supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional growth

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach small group language/autism unit classes (Grades K-5), collaborating with 3–5 paraeducators per classroom
  • Develop and implement individualized instruction and IEPs
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment
  • Liaise with administrators, families, and support staff
  • Track student progress and participate in IEP meetings
