Special Education Teacher | Montrose, Colorado

Step into a meaningful full-time contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year supporting students with significant support needs in an elementary education program. As a Special Education Teacher, you’ll play an essential role in the lives of students with moderate to severe disabilities, designing interventions that foster their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Key Qualifications:

• Hold an active Colorado Special Education License or have eligibility to obtain one via reciprocity.
• Previous experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in implementing behavioral support and effective classroom management.
• Background in supervising and guiding paraprofessional staff is a plus.
• Commitment to collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality specialized instruction tailored for students needing significant support.
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student-specific goals.
• Employ individualized supports and behavior intervention strategies.
• Collaborate closely with support personnel, families, and allied professionals to maximize student success.
• Collect, maintain, and review student progress data and ensure all compliance documentation is up-to-date.
• Participate actively in IEP meetings and team planning sessions.
