Step into a rewarding and impactful role supporting students with moderate to severe needs for the 2025-2026 school year. This opportunity focuses on an Intensive Resource Room with a small group setting—just six students in 1st through 6th grade, whose exceptional learning and communication needs require compassion, adaptability, and expertise. The classroom is equipped with paraprofessional assistance for daily routines and self-care, as well as on-site support from related service providers including OT, SLP, and SSW.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid Special Education Teaching license or eligibility in Colorado
  • Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities, such as Down syndrome and non-verbal autism
  • Familiarity with and competency in utilizing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices
  • Strong collaboration skills for working closely with paraprofessionals and a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to individualize instruction and develop meaningful learning activities
  • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and commitment to meeting unique student needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students in the intensive resource setting
  • Adapt curriculum and instruction to suit student abilities and communication styles
  • Collaborate with paraprofessionals for classroom routines and student support
  • Coordinate and work alongside occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and social workers to address related service needs
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all students, encouraging growth in both academics and self-advocacy
  • Track progress and communicate effectively with families and service team members
