A Special Education Teacher is needed for an Intensive Resource Room serving grades 1st through 6th for the 2025-2026 school year. This opportunity is based in the greater Monument, CO area and offers a contract-to-hire path, providing stability and growth for dedicated educators.
This classroom is designed for students with moderate to severe disabilities—including Down syndrome and non-verbal autism, many of whom utilize AAC devices for communication. With a small class size of six students, you’ll be able to provide individualized support strengthened by a team of paraprofessionals and related service providers (OT, SLP, SSW) who offer both in-class and pull-out services. Students remain in this nurturing setting for the majority of their school day, allowing for comprehensive attention to their academic, communication, and daily living skills.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education
- Current Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility
- Experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
- Proficiency in adapting curriculum and instruction for varied learning needs
- Familiarity with AAC devices and non-verbal communication methods is a plus
- Strong collaboration skills for working closely with paraprofessionals and service providers
- Patience, compassion, and a commitment to student growth
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment
- Adapt lessons and materials to support differentiated instruction
- Guide and support paraprofessionals in the classroom
- Collaborate with OT, SLP, and social workers for integrated student support
- Track and report progress toward IEP goals
