Special Education Teacher - Mooresville, NC

Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher working with middle and high school students who have a high level of autism and follow the extended content standard curriculum. In this contract position, you'll be part of a dedicated educational team providing vital instruction and support to a caseload of approximately 15 to 18 students. This role runs from August 13, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with a permitted schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 3:30pm, totaling up to 40 hours per week.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Valid Adapted Curriculum License for Special Education (required)
• Experience working with students who have moderate to severe autism preferred
• Strong understanding of extended content standards
• Ability to customize instruction for diverse learning needs
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Organizational skills and flexibility managing a moderate total caseload

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's strengths and needs
• Deliver engaging daily instruction in both small groups and one-on-one settings
• Modify curriculum and utilize a variety of teaching strategies to support effective learning
• Collaborate with instructional aides, therapists, and families to ensure continuity of care and education
• Complete assessments, maintain detailed student records, and monitor progress
• Create a structured, positive classroom atmosphere that promotes growth, inclusion, and independence
