Special Education Teacher | Morganton, North Carolina

An immediate opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide essential support to elementary students in an adaptive classroom setting. This contract role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact with a manageable classroom—serving 7-8 students alongside the assistance of two paraprofessionals. The assignment runs full-time, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, with the position starting as soon as possible and continuing through late May.

Qualifications:

• Valid North Carolina Adaptive EC license (required)
• Experience working as a Special Education Teacher, preferably with elementary-aged students
• Familiarity with adaptive curriculum and individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively manage a small classroom and work in partnership with paraprofessionals

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement instruction for students in an adaptive elementary classroom
• Develop and modify lesson plans to accommodate individual learning needs
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation, including IEPs and progress reports
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals to create an inclusive, supportive environment
• Communicate regularly with families and school staff regarding student progress and needs
• Foster a positive and engaging classroom atmosphere that promotes student growth and well-being
