Special Education Teacher in Morganton, NC

This contract position is set to begin as soon as possible and will continue through May 28, 2027, offering you the continuity to truly connect with your students and see their growth over time.

You’ll play a pivotal role in one of two classroom settings:

• Elementary Structured Support: A small caseload of just 6 students, supported by a teaching assistant and a behavior technician. Students here have no significant behavioral concerns, though toileting assistance is needed.
• Middle School Co-Teaching: Manage a group of 11 students with the support of a teacher, three full-time teaching assistants, and a dedicated 1:1 aide. One student uses a feeding tube, while several others require toileting support.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience working with students requiring toileting assistance
• Familiarity with elementary or middle school structured special education settings
• Ability to collaborate closely in a team-teaching environment
• Skills in adapting lesson plans and instructional practices to meet varied student needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and adapt instruction for a diverse group of learners
• Work cooperatively with teaching assistants, behavior technicians, and other staff
• Maintain and update IEPs in coordination with school-wide special education teams
• Provide necessary supports such as toileting assistance in a respectful, caring manner
• Foster a classroom atmosphere where students’ strengths are celebrated

This full-time contract offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, allowing you to build strong relationships and create positive outcomes for your students in a well-resourced, collaborative environment.
