Special Education Teacher | Mount Airy, Maryland

Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students' growth and learning as a Special Education Teacher for the upcoming academic year. This full-time opportunity is based onsite at three educational locations, serving a diverse group of students with unique needs. You will make a direct impact at the following sites:

• Oakdale Middle School (15-student Learning for Life Program, 7:30 am-3:30 pm)
• Another elementary school site (to be determined): Self-contained classroom, 10 students, 9:00 am-3:30 pm
• Centerville Elementary: Self-contained caseload focused on behavioral support

The assignment runs from August 17th through June 4th.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Special Education Teacher certification for the appropriate age group(s)
• Experience supporting students in self-contained and/or behavior-focused classrooms
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Dedication to fostering inclusivity, emotional safety, and individualized learning
• Enthusiasm for collaboration with other educators, specialists, and families

Role Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and group instruction tailored to IEP goals
• Develop, adapt, and implement lesson plans supportive of student needs
• Coordinate and participate in IEP meetings and progress evaluations
• Foster a structured, caring, and engaging environment that supports both academic and behavioral growth
• Maintain accurate records and ongoing communication with parents and team members
• Support students’ social-emotional development and independence
