Step into a rewarding Special Education teaching opportunity for the 2026–2027 school year in a supportive academic environment near Mount Carmel, IL. This contract role offers approximately 39 hours per week, working Monday through Friday from 7:40 am to 3:20 pm. Each day includes a paid lunch and a full hour of paid planning time. Assignments may involve either 3rd or 8th grade and will be a blend of self-contained, push-in, and pull-out instructional models. You’ll teach a core curriculum spanning math, reading, science, and social studies, providing direct support for students with diverse learning needs.

Ideal candidates possess the following qualifications:

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 (PK-22) endorsement
  • Experience and confidence managing classrooms with a high prevalence of behavioral disorders
  • Willingness and openness to work with either 3rd or 8th grade as the assignment will be determined by the school district closer to the start date
  • Robust experience independently writing, developing goals for, and completing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Strong communication skills, adaptability, and a team-oriented mindset

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering effective instruction tailored to students’ individual needs as outlined in their IEPs
  • Designing and implementing behavioral management strategies
  • Collaborating with general educators, specialists, and families
  • Conducting both small group and individualized instruction across core academic subjects
  • Completing all required documentation, assessments, and progress reports

Compensation for this position ranges from $37 to $55 per hour, with eligibility for travel stipends based on individual circumstances.
