Special Education Teacher in Muskegon, MI

Special Education professionals passionate about working with young learners will find this contract role a rewarding opportunity. Situated in an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) classroom, this position supports a small group of students, with potential for additional enrollments over the year. With your own classroom and three dedicated assistants, you’ll create a nurturing and structured learning environment focused on each child’s unique growth. The week includes up to 30 hours, with flexibility for some full days or extra hours as needed. The assignment begins part-time, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time if enrollment increases.

You’ll be part of a supportive team, including a veteran ECSE teacher ready to offer guidance. Consistency is important to us—we’re seeking a candidate who can commit to the entire school year and build lasting relationships with students and colleagues.

Qualifications & Desired Background:

• Valid Special Education Teacher certification
• Experience working with early childhood or ECSE populations preferred
• Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with assistants, staff, and families
• Resourcefulness and adaptability in a dynamic classroom environment

Core Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement individualized educational activities for ECSE students
• Collaborate with support staff and utilize the expertise of a veteran ECSE teacher
• Foster a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate setting
• Monitor and document student progress; adjust strategies as needed
• Maintain clear communication with families regarding student growth and classroom events
• Adapt to increased classroom size or hours as needed throughout the year
