Special Education Teacher in Muskegon, MI

As the dedicated Special Education Teacher, you’ll have your own classroom space and three instructional assistants to help foster an engaging, nurturing learning atmosphere.

This contract position begins part-time, with up to 30 hours per week and flexibility for additional full-day coverage or extra hours, as needed. There’s also potential for this role to evolve into full-time as new students enroll. You’ll work closely with another experienced ECSE teacher, providing a valuable resource for collaboration, mentorship, and support throughout the school year.

Qualifications and Experience:

• State certification in Special Education (ECSE or equivalent) required
• Previous experience working with children in early childhood or special education settings preferred
• Strong communication abilities with students, staff, and families
• Capacity to individualize instruction based on student needs and IEP goals
• Patience, creativity, and adaptability are essential

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans for a small group of young learners
• Collaborate with three dedicated assistants to create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
• Monitor student progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings
• Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and team members
