Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Illinois LBS1 certification is required
  • Previous experience teaching in a special education setting preferred
  • Strong ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families
  • Commitment to maintaining a supportive, engaging classroom environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction within a high school classroom, tailored to students’ unique learning needs
  • Design, implement, and monitor IEPs and modifications, tracking progress toward academic and behavioral goals
  • Partner with general education teachers and support staff to ensure best practices for inclusion
  • Provide a positive, structured learning atmosphere to promote student achievement and independence
  • Maintain accurate records, complete necessary documentation, and participate in IEP meetings as required
