Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teaching license/certification recognized in Illinois
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
- Thorough understanding of IDEA, IEP creation, and progress reporting
- Experience working with students across a range of abilities and disabilities
- Strong collaboration skills for working with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Ability to differentiate instruction and implement accommodations and modifications
- Compassionate, organized, and adaptable to changing classroom dynamics
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
- Deliver engaging, standards-based instruction tailored to each learner’s needs
- Use assessment data to inform instruction and track student progress
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and participate in IEP meetings
- Maintain documentation, ensure compliance with all relevant policies and timelines
- Provide support and guidance to paraeducators and instructional aides
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages student growth and confidence
